Beginning

A Little About Me

Hi, I’m B, faceless writer, blogger, teacher, wannabe literary critic, a lover of Jesus… and one silly goose!

Welcome to my peaceful, little internet nook! Each successive tab represents an enjoyment of mine, bound together in this one place by you, the reader, and lovingly curated by me, the writer. Here is a place for you to be passionate about finding goodness, beauty, and truth in everyday storytelling while discovering meaning in ordinary present participles.

Together, let us romanticize the world through the lens of wonderfully created, imaginative beings. I invited all readers, writers, teachers, critics, believers, and thinkers along on this wild and wonderful journey as we chase the birds.

In Gratitude…

This site takes its name from an image found in one of C.S. Lewis’s essays, “On Stories.” The “bird,” in his estimation, refers to an idea or concept that cannot be reached but through stories… beautiful ideas that are just beyond our reach, but worthy of our pursuit, nonetheless.

I find myself consistently returning to Lewis because of examples like this. His language does not always lend itself to answers, but rather asks the reader to join him in a sense of wonder. In the aftermath of great trials, great joys, and great grief, it was for this purpose that I continually returned to his work. Imagination and storytelling are not a distraction in life, but a way to see it – and that faith which we hold most dear – clearly.

We have inherited Lewis’s birds… and I am forever learning how to follow after them.
